DULUTH, Ga. — An off-duty Georgia police officer rescued a 4-year-old girl who jumped into the pool without her floaties on.
Officer Preston Marsh, with the Duluth Police Department, saw what no one else did and sprinted 25 yards across the deck to save her.
The girl\’s mom told police there was no splashing, no screaming – just silence.
“It was only the sound of his feet on the concrete that alerted me and the other adults to anything happening… I truly don’t know what would have occurred had he not been on high alert and jumped in to save my sweet 4-year-old,” the girl\’s mom told Duluth Police.
Officer Marsh was just there to relax. However, when it mattered most, he ran toward danger without hesitation.
Although Officer Marsh said it\’s what any parent would do, the Duluth Police Chief Jacquelyn Carruth called it a shining example of dedication to public safety on and off-duty.
